Parliamentary debate

What can we do to change the minds of decision makers and people in general to actually do something about preparing for the forthcoming economic/energy crises (the ones after this one!)?

God it's so embarrassing, loads of toffs that sound pissed, gets beamed around the world and probably gets watched as comedy.

Apparently the House of Lords is cult viewing in the USA, even though being live it happens in the middle of their night-time!

Perhaps people with sleep problems find it relaxing to watch others asleep.

She didn't do it willingly! -- if you look at the video you can see they got the heavy dudes to wrench her left arm to make her ask the question.

So any one know what a University Technical College is? (I think that was the subject of the Honourable Member for Newton Abbot's question.) Apparently one can attend from the age of 14, which strikes me as a new twist to grade inflation when associated with the word 'university'.

Dont want to sound like a snob, but it makes my blood boil when terms are distorted for political gain.

university
An institution for higher learning with teaching and research facilities constituting a graduate school and professional schools that award master's degrees and doctorates and an undergraduate division that awards bachelor's degrees.
technical college
an institution for further education that provides courses in technology, art, secretarial skills, agriculture, etc. Sometimes (informal) shortened to tech
Both are valuable insituitions but serve different purposes.

What's a "University Technical College"? Is it, like, a Polytechnic??

No. That's the thing. It's a school for 14 to 19 year-olds with a techie spin to it.

Sounds like a secondary modern school for slightly older young adults
