entertaining anti EU stories he wrote as Brussels correspondent for the Telegraph.
Would that be the invented ones, or the factual ones?

Re: Conservative government watch
Yes
Agree
Have to disagree, you won't be surprised
The speech was a revisionist discursive ramble about the 1990's. Boris was shifty? What about shagger Major and eggweaner, He addressed cash for questions, but this was his government! He addressed inequality but not a word of his butt getting kicked out of the ERM which increased inequality. He studiously avoided the the Elephant graph, its causes, the remedies, which will be painful. Just drivel about buying honours knocking the shine off his knighthood.
As for the remainer whinge. The genius of Brexit was getting people out of the closet. He said he had not seen any financial benefits. WHAT ABOUT THE 80.6 BILLION we did not contribute to the EU recovery fund? Maybe he's forgotten.
Guess what? I disagree!!!

I think he'll be gone by the end of this week. This is going to finish him off.

I don't think the unpleasant toddler will be going until he's shoved really hard. Crowbarred out. Who would want to take over anyway, it's not as if there's any principled contenders ready to man up and deal with the state of the nation. Truss? Barely sentient. Sunak, he'll mess things up just as badly as Johnson but in his own inflexible not up to speed way.

Re: Conservative government watch
That was always true. However, I think he's fortunate in that just at the point where his party would normally have got rid of him, the world finds itself on the brink of what might turn out to be a serious conflict in Ukraine. This will cause some tory MPs to delay sending their letters to Graham Brady - they won't want to be seen to be further destabilising the UK government at what might turn out to be a crucial moment.dustiswhatweare wrote: ↑12 Feb 2022, 14:14 I don't think the unpleasant toddler will be going until he's shoved really hard. He's still finished. It's just he may remain in Downing Street until after we've found out what is actually going to happen in eastern Europe.
Hunt. It is a no-brainer. He's the only person who can claim serious qualifications, he's a professional (the opposite of Johnson), and this is likely to be his best chance of being PM. If he doesn't go for it now and whoever comes in loses in 2024 then I don't think the tories would choose him as the leader to rebuild in opposition, because he's already too unpopular. They will want a fresher start than that. But right now they need somebody who can hit the ground running, even if the public think he is a c*nt.Who would want to take over anyway, it's not as if there's any principled contenders ready to man up and deal with the state of the nation. Re: Conservative government watch
Another week with Johnston as PM then.
What has undoubtedly assisted him is;
1/ Cake (iced union flag or digits)
2/ Crisps (half opened and stood within 2 metres of tinsel)
3/ John Major's speech (on a scale of 1-10 how shifty is shifty) Jenifer Acuri or Edwina Currie.
4/ Bottled lager and Chop suey being made official Labour party policy. Chop suey OK if you are consuming with lager on behalf of the proletariat, not OK if crisps are eaten whilst running the country.

(1) The organised parties are a symptom of a PM who lies and thinks he's above the law. One of a very long list of examples. Starmer was eating, which as far as I'm aware is allowed. That's why No10 is being investigated by The Met, and Starmer isn't. Simples.
(2) People who lost loved ones (160,000 and counting) probably care most about the parties. Most of the rest of the country (the decent ones at least) are dismayed at the low standards in public life that this PM presides over.
(3) Very sad If this is the best you can come up as a reason to support Boris...
Suspect that Boris is secretly hoping for war in Ukraine....., he thinks he's Churchill2, so probably wants to gain his 'spurs'...
Plus, he probably believes it will detract from all his other shortcomings....
Only problem is that he'll be crap war leader as well.
Re: Conservative government watch
No I posted it to mock. If you cannot see the absurdities, i'd wager most people can.
We don't know if the PM organised parties, or merely accessed or egressed a room whilst crisps, cake, and or tinsel was in the room. Gonna have to wait for the report. Your prejudices will already believe what they want to believe.[/quote]
Lets just flip that to reveal its comedic character. Johnston is not allowed to eat?
Exactly. Why?
You know a lot about what Bojo is thinking. At least you think you do. Or, do you think you are driven by idealogical marxist groupthink hatred of the the first order.
Re: Conservative government watch
Notice that Boris is now claiming that parties were part of his job.....
It's very embarrassing - squirming and wriggling like a fat worm on the end of a hook...
Remember, one minute he was telling the nation what to do, flanked by his Chief Medical Officer and enforcing it with the levers of state.....
Then as soon as the cameras stopped, he was on the piss, partying with Carrie and her mates, bopping to Abba....
Now that's absurd

Re: Conservative government watch
There you go again, claiming you know what a party is.
I have been to lots of 'parties'. I have been to and hosted lots of 'parties' that had Chinese takeaway delivered. I have been at R&D meetings where food was brought in by caterers, with alcohol. Which got a bit lively.
More hatred. Isn't it a bit tiring? I've been told that constant hating is bad for your mental health as well. Be careful.
More subjective storytelling.

Re: Conservative government watch
Yes. Right now Boris Johnson is thanking his lucky stars. A war in Ukraine is just what he needs to distract people from his domestic shortcomings and discourage his MPs from triggering a vote of no confidence in him. He's hoping people will just forget about Partygate and that he can make Churchill-like noises and ride a wave of popular glory for "standing up to Putin". Perfect timing from his point of view.
It won't work for long though. Partygate is unfinished business. It's like Blair and Iraq - no amount of "we all need to move on now" will make the problem go away for ever, and eventually it will be his undoing.

Well we were warned.
Yet the Tories, in their terror, have elevated a cavorting charlatan to the steps of Downing Street, and they should expect to pay a full forfeit when voters get the message.

Stumuz2, you sound like such a fun guy - I'm not at all surprised that you get invited to all the best parties...
I can just picture you now, spring roll in 1 hand, bottle of Budweiser in the other, the whole room hanging on every word.... .
As you obviously know so much, maybe you should apply to be Boris' party consultant ??

My brother lost 60% of his hearing in the first Gulf war. A scud missile prematurely exploded over a forward operating base. The second gulf war was controversial worldwide.
You think an opened packet of crisps and yet to be confirmed tinsel is controversial worldwide?
