This has been proven for a long time now.

Some serious education is needed.

Oh, here's a link to the Chatham House article and the pdf of the research paper.
• Compared with other sectors, recognition of the livestock sector as a significant contributor to climate change is markedly low.

• Consumers with a higher level of awareness were more likely to indicate willingness to reduce their meat and dairy consumption for climate objectives. Closing the awareness gap is therefore likely to be an important precondition for behaviour change.
Climate change is not currently a primary consideration in food choices.
Even if not thinking about meat and dairy, food miles (product and packaging) should be listed as an ingredient.

(Crikey, billions are thrown at preventing consumers knowing true ingredients, so maybe this is a little optimistic.)

Only 55% of food-crop calories are consumed directly by humans. The rest: fuel and feed.
