April 2012 was the globe’s 5th warmest April on record, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Climatic Data Center (NCDC). NASA rated April 2012 as the 4th warmest April on record. April 2012 global land temperatures were the 2nd warmest on record, and the Northern Hemisphere land surface temperature was 1.74°C (3.13°F) above the 20th century average, marking the warmest April since records began in 1880. Global ocean temperatures were the 11th warmest on record, and April 2012 was the 427th consecutive month with ocean temperatures warmer than the 20th century average.

I didn't think it was particularly cold. It was just very, very wet.

My beans thought it was cold: after being germinated indoors and then planted (in proper professional compost, I ask you) in pots outside, early last month, and never let dry out, they still haven't come up.

Not cold, no. Just no sunshine.

It was diabolical for me. I'm a gardener and no one wants their garden doing when it's grey and wet. It's been picking up in the last two weeks, thank buggery..... :D

It's going to turn hot now, probably for a long time.

I must say, I find my female customers tend to appreciate a gardener who is always ready with his dibber to plant his seed in their moist furrows.
