Scottish Government awards £13m to marine energy projects

New Energy Focus - 06/07/10

The Scottish Government has today (July 6) awarded £13 million to five marine energy projects under its Wave and Tidal Energy: Research, Development and Demonstration Support (WATERS) fund.

The grants are to be used to help develop emerging energy technologies and improve the operation of marine renewables devices.

WATERS is a collaboration between the Scottish Government and business and economic growth agencies Scottish Enterprise and Highlands and Islands Enterprise, with support from European Regional Development Funds.

£13M, they deserve more money than that just for the cool acronym 8)

I only requested £13k for my suggestion of Power Input by Supplementary Sources.

I fully expected it to be passed by the management...

They should go for Production of Environmental Energy on the grounds that it's less dirty than Production of Offshore Oil.
