Yeah it's tough trying to save energy when you live in a cardboard house on a road with no 'sidewalk' miles from anywhere and you don't realise there's anything odd about that. But realisation is dawning in the USA that everyone does better if you can walk around...

Americans are simply in for a big shock. I read an article recently about how Russians were ready for their 'recent' fall, and how the US was most definately not - the lack of public transport and widespread knowledge of the land (rather than the mall) featured....
