What's the most fuel efficient moped ?

After two years I'm fed up with the bus,

Cycling is just not very practical (suit required for work, long hours, lots to carry, many meetings and two small kids to rush home to)

I don?t fancy an electric scooter; I don?t think that the technology is good enough ATM.

I intend to buy secondhand, ?1500 max budget, I think this will be fairly useful for the next five years as the Fuel prices ramp up and incomes ramp down.

I think a Vespa type moped would good; anyone got any comparative fuel consumption figures?
