I've heard elsewhere that computer boffins are very interested in sheet diamond as an alternative to silicon for super-duper computers...?
I can't imagine what energy is required to make sheet diamond though... must be enormous, but if they pulled off fusion the eroei would make it seem insignificant I imagine
