My Dad (who lives in the UK) has one of the original versions of these lurking somewhere at the back of his shed - he's into restoring old motorbikes and stuff and has a mechanical bent.

I've been gently introducing him to the peak oil issue, but you just reminded me about this. I shall suggest that he dusts it off and gets it going.
