12 leisure battery charger recommendation?

Post by Vortex2 »

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a decent 12 volt battery charger for a 120AH leisure battery?

(DODGY TAX AVOIDERS has tons of options .. but I'm not so sure they work properly)

I have the 'Maypole MP716' which works well for charging the batteries we use for electrical fencing.

I have one of these from RS components.

Might be a bit expensive but has the merit of being suitable for 12 volt or 24 volt systems in case needs change. Fast or slow charge. I find the presence of fuses more reassuring than electronic overload protection, keep spares.

Slow charging is better for the battery, but faster charging could be needed for frequent rota power cuts.

Dont forget a spare battery charger, having only one represents a single point of failure.
