The Zero Emission Hydrogen Turbine Center, a Swedish hydrogen power plant project, is integrating gas turbines, renewables, energy storage and electrolysis in a flexible energy system of the future.
I don't see how the round trip efficiency makes it economic.
Electrolysers are about 75% efficient (the rest lost as heat) for liquid versions and solid versions (more expensive about 90% efficient. This is already less efficient than just charging a battery. Gas turbines operating in open cycle are about 30% efficient in returning the hydrogen back to electricity so that's about 22% round trip efficiency.
The only circumstance I can see for using hydrogen is for large or long distance vehicles such as trucks, ships, mining vehicles or trains operating in remote and sunny or windy areas not on main electrical grids.
