Trouble in Paradise - Maldive Watch

Post by BritDownUnder »

Having had a look at this article it looks like India and China could come to blows over this archipelago in the Indian Ocean.

Basically you have one of the most vulnerable countries to rising sea levels, China looking for ports to anchor its growing naval might to intimidate India, a Saudi Wahhabi indoctrinated populace and a political tug-of-war between the president and supreme court of one of the most densely populated countries in the world. Supposedly a Chinese naval force is steaming towards these islands (other sources say it is nothing of the sort and nowhere near) to bolster support for "its" man in power who also happens to have borrowed a lot of money from China to spend on infrastructure projects.

What could possibly go wrong? August 1914 anyone? Whose side would you take if the guns start blazing? India or China?
G'Day cobber!
