With the announcement that the climate change department is going o merge with business and industry departments, signalling a lowering of importance, t was interesting to hear BBC Radio 4 Any Questions this week. A panel member stated he was not frightened by a 0.5ºC rise over 50 years. Fortunately someone (I think it was Margaret Beckett, but I could be wrong) pointed out the average temperature rise since the end of the last ice age has been just 2ºC. Makes 0.5º look a bit scary.
