In the near future, a catastrophic food crisis has led to the collapse of British society and the rise of extremism.
An official from the ailing government goes on an odyssey to find the leader of the dominant far-right party, intent on ending the madness and inhumanity.
Sounds very pertinent.

Peace always has been and always will be an intermittent flash of light in a dark history of warfare, violence, and destruction

Thanks for the warning - I'll be avoiding it for sure.
Why anyone would want to watch this kind of stuff is beyond me. I suppose many people see it as a bit of pure fantasy showing the absolute worst that could happen if we don't pull ourselves together in the next 50 years - as opposed to by far the most likely thing to happen within 5 years.
"We're just waiting, looking skyward as the days go down / Someone promised there'd be answers if we stayed around."
I suppose near future doesn't necessarily mean the next 50 years, does it? We're surely headed for a bit of a crisis sooner than that. I read somewhere it was said in the next few years (I don't remember anything too good, so no judgement if I got it wrong) there was something about starvation in Europe and over 200.000 (or maybe it was million) dying? Anyone else heard anything like this?

Sounds unlikely to me. Far too optimistic.
