Ad-hoc carpooling - It's real!

Post by MacG »

The idea to use mobile phones to match drivers and passengers ad-hoc has been made a reality by a Finnish company.
ALthough it's not a truly sustainable solution, it could provide significant ease the first 10-20 years on the downslope of the Hubbert curve. The quickest and simplest way to conserve gasoline is obviously to get more people into every car and reduce the total number of cars in traffic.

Economists will of course percieve it as a pure disaster for GNP, and unemployment would increase in many car dependent sectors of the economy.

We have to DO something about this monetary system also! If increased transport efficiency is percieved as "bad", the system is a disaster waiting to happen...
