Wouldn't want to hang about with any of your chums then Johnny!
Perhaps it's a Weston-super-Mare thing (this is awful but I remember seeing a documentary about feral youth and they went there to investigate. They come across a load of charvers boy-racing twocced cars. I'm sure everywhere else is just as bad but it didn't 1/2 leave me with a bad impression of WsM!)

I've had similar experiences, I think it's just fear talking.

RGR: I subscribe to other forums. One of them relates to people discussing motor oil. There are more members there than here, LATOC and probably PO.com combined.
Hmmm... I think that tells us more about you and your anorak associates than it does about us.

What a chat up line: "Hey, I spend two hours a day on a motor oil forum. It's great! Do you want to come up to my apartment to see my collection of used 20W/50 cans?"

Not bad.

It's going to be a Whole Earth Catalog look-alike, but not so strict on the grammar or rigorous style.

Some say that my style is turgid - but hey what do they know?

They also say that the book format is too big to fit on shelves properly. Nitpickers.

I'll be calling it Poweroff - The Peak Disco Is Over : a Handbook On Transitional Intentional Transmogrification.

I'll soon be available for interviews and conferences - just PM me and I'll let you know my fee schedule & my hotel and flight requirements.

Please be advised that I will give priority to tropical island venues.

Don't get me started, I've got like 150 quarts of motor oil stashed in 3 different piles in the garage.
