But that's just the thing. Bhutan is the last refuge pretty much free of such things.
Anyway, I'm supporting Bhutan in the Olympics. It means one doesn't have to watch much as they are only up for one event.

Well, indeed.JohnB wrote:Where's the profit and opportunity to move closer to a police state in the mad idea of treating it just as sport?the_lyniezian wrote:I should award a prize for Daftest Contrived Link to the Olympics.
Why can't we just cut out the hype and just leave it at the actual sport, the actual event, and no more?
I was however including the campaign in the OP in that, but then that might be unfair- it's simply a response to the corporatisation of the Olympics and the way these companies are pushing themselves as being altuistic by doing so. Or simply easy publicity for corporate responsibility campaigning.
I am afraid that any little thing that is connected to the Olympics without being sport, to me, just looks like another unnecessary part of the hype. Even the torch relay. (But not my insistance on checking out every last videotape so I can know which to use to record said sport, which has been driving my sister up the wall.... )

How Green will the London Olympics really be?
Rows about sponsors and merchandising have overshadowed the effort which has gone into limiting the actual damage to the environment.
