+1 for the "iranians could make life hell for the americans" ive been saying this for a while, iran has got a decent army and they will give the americans one hell of a fight it wont be no where near as easy as iraq, as for the hoping britain wont get involved part sadly that aint gonna happen, if america goes to war britain go to war end of.

Iran does not have a decent army, navy or air force.


They have a better than average missile defence system but that can be taken out with little or no loss.


I doubt they are going to invade Iran there would be no point to it.
What may happen is that there will be attacks to gain Air Superiority followed by tactical airstrikes on Air force and Navy. Followed by destruction of Nuclear facilities by long range surface to surface, cruise missiles, drones and B2 stealth bombers.


Even if the unthinkable silly thing happens i.e. boots on the ground, you might as well go crazy and drag Israel and the willing parts of NATO into it. Military wise Isreal have the ability to neutralise any Irananian Assets that they deem a threat, alone (Not without losses). America is the only thing holding Israel back from a strike on Iran. In fact they are not stopping them just pushing the timetable for action back.

These missiles are based on North Korean and Libyan technology. Iran has up to 150 Shabab-2 missiles and up to 300 of the Shahab-1 and a few of the Shahab-3 if any.

They have the range but they are very large, unreliable, lack any type of radar evasion technology or resistance to electronic counter measures. These things belong to another age.

Iran’s missile program still relies on Scud missiles to bolster numbers and we know how accurate they are.

I am not saying they could not hit roughly a wide area target or two, but Iran is going to need a lot more than multi-generational out of date missiles to have the slightest fighting chance of defending its Nuclear Program

tbf it dont really matter what iran has or has not got everyone knows that america could/will flatten them, but what im saying is it wont be as easy as iraq was and there will be alot more american deaths than the iraq war. (plus alot more suffering around the globe imo, and thats even if the war is contained to the middle east)

any one got any thoughts on how the price/availability of oil will be affected? i dont see oil pipelines etc escaping without damage.

If Israel were to decide to go all Rock & Roll on Iran then they would be running the risk of galvanising the Arab world against them. That might come in the form of another oil embargo on the US.
