What military action are you referring to Dom?
Enforcing the proposed no fly zone is an act of war.
Actualy bombing Ghadaffis troops even more so.

As a civil population is being attacked, I guess Kosovo would be the precedent. So first, you'll need a UN resolution, and then NATO to get it together. Better to offer the air fare to send a retinue to Caracas, along with a modest monthly allowance to settle in La Casa de Tiranos y Déspotas Depuestos

Spotted the Sun headline when paying for diesel today. "Camel for Mr Gaddaffi" :D

When did the UK take the decision to do these? I missed it. Do you have a reference for it?

My understanding at the moment is that these ideas are just that, ideas
Peace always has been and always will be an intermittent flash of light in a dark history of warfare, violence, and destruction

With luck Gadaffis mercinaries will see the writing on the wall in a couple days and simply leave. Rats and leaky vessels.

Heard on the radio as I was walking out this morning. F--k. They made a prediction about the impact on the price we pay for fuel but I was busy running out the door so I'm on here trying to glean how bd this is...

Got paid today so buying another sack of rice and a sack of onions and a load of daal... why not it isn't going to get any cheaper anyway

That's actually what I'd been thinking re the hired thugs.

Must actually look pretty precarious from their position. Numbers wise that is. Heavily armed or not there are a LOT of pissed off people in that country.

Your reading comprehension is failing you again....

I asked a question, meant to highlight the fact that the UK is not at war with the Libyan Government, nor allied with the Libyan Rebels.

Talk of assasinating dictators and overthrowing regimes of torture has something of the whiff of GWB jnr does it not?

The West imposed a no fly zone to protect the Kurds so why not the same for the Eastern half of Libya which is currently Gadaffi free?

Bring down any Libyan planes flying into this zone and launch strikes against any armour trying to enter.

At least it gives the people in the East a chance to regroup and reorganise.

If previous form is anything to go by, US and UK special forces will already be on the ground. They will be guarding the oil installations, and making contact with tribal and militia and ex-army leaders.

They will be importing weapons and making sure that Gadaffi can't use that airfield he recaptured to bomb the oil installations.

We were at war with Iraq.
The right to enforce no fly zones was part of the cease fire agreement.

Don't be taken in by the surface explanations given for world events. Pretty much every apparently ethical aspect of Western foreign policy has just been window dressing. If we have brought any good good to foreign nations, it has only ever been a side-effect of pursuing our own interests.

I was unaware Turkey was a vassel state that needed our permission....
Who exactly was going to stop Turkey bombing the terrorists within its borders, and in Northern Iraq and Iran?
They invaded Iraq againsts US protests recently.

But we knew that. So it was rather confusing for you to ask the question about when the UK had made the decision to "take military action to support the rebellion". :?
