Trade in yer old 750 kW wind turbine for a shiny new 2 MW job and we'll throw in a couple of grand too, plus the costs of the planning enquiry you have to have even though there was already a turbine there...
Now the interesting bit, apparently all our old wind-turbines get refurbed and off to live another day in places like Russia!

Listening to RTÉ this morning cheered me up. Alan Nolan, director general of SIMI (the Society of the Irish Motor Industry) gave a truly bumbling interview. He obviously didn't realise he would have so much time to speak, filling it out with some truly non-earth-shattering generalisms and platitudes regarding the recently-announced car scrappage scheme and prospects for the industry.
Car sales last year were down 70% on the previous year. So, back to a normal level for Ireland. Presumably the industry had thought sales could grow year after year without end. He mentions 'moving the graph up' a couple of times and reckons the 'worst is behind us'. That's alright then!
I have a feeling that, behind it all, he knows the good times have gone and were merely an aberration but he has to put on a brave face to keep his job. He could hardly say, "Look lads, there'll be no more growth. Deal with it."
This is a classic, Alan. Ahem:
"Unless we get back to life as normal we won't get back to life as normal."
