Why not put your money into arable or woodland. You can get an income from it, and prices are firm (at the moment). When the houses have bottomed you can sell the land and move into a decent house.

fwiw, a list of which bank is owned by which.

so make sure the top level is different for each bank (iyswim).

I need the money to be available within 30 days, just in case the perfect property comes on the market and I can get it at a bargain price.

You should consider banking it all with GregCorpPLC. Based in Nigeria so no excessive paperwork.

Ohhhh. YOu lucky git! Selling at this point in the market...!

I'd probably emigrate to be honest. If I had £115k I'd be scouring the net for a hobby farm in NZ, or a nice little place with land and woodland up in the Pyrenees.

I'd be looking for somewhere that already has small farms producing food for market, with a high land:people ratio, with alot of english there already (Pyreneese), or that has English as a first language (NZ).

The more I see of the state of society (knife crime etc) and the goverment response (lock more up), the more I think the UK will be a less and less free place to live. The less a country/area has to change the less the goverment will have to become authoritarian.
