hmmmm, maybe I am being too selfish and short-termist. I am not used to having to think in terms of multiple centurys.

But I still want oil to last another 100 years. But I also want population to gradually reduce over that period, thus reducing our drain on resources. But I know that is very unlikely - for all our intelligence we don't seem to have the capability of doing that kind of thing. :roll:

Like isenhand, I think we could have a "good" world with maybe even another billion people. There is physically the space, but we would need to organise for this and do quite a few things differently.

But I am too cynical - I know we won't - hence my doomer views. :evil:

Just a thought, but notice the similarity in shape to the stretched out Nationwide house price graph from 2000-2006?

Can't help but wonder if it's just another bubble that's now bursting. Could it just be that cheap and plentiful money supply since 2000 has just pushed up the price of oil, minerals, metals, houses etc and now it's all going to come back to reality. Interesting to see now how closely how prices follow on behind.
