And dressed for the weather and smart enough to come in from the cold.
Think back to 1630 or so and the men and women from Kent setting sail in wooden ships and sailing to Boston and having to endure their first New New England winter. Now the Boston area is a bit milder then central Vermont but it is a far cry from London or Kent. They must have suffered terribly considering the supplies they had in hand and the time it takes to learn how to use the local resources. There is a survivor show location idea for you "survivor pilgrim."

I know. I feel the cold terribly, so having modern gear is something I appreciate greatly.
