Tory vilification campaign against the poor is so clever

What can we do to change the minds of decision makers and people in general to actually do something about preparing for the forthcoming economic/energy crises (the ones after this one!)?

Another factor is that the people tend to help and watch out for each other. Every bit of empty land in towns is growing veggies or has chickens on it. Oh and no American fast food outlets on every corner.

Went on holiday there a few years ago and saw an old guy collapse in the street. Nobody walked past. Within a few seconds a doctor was there, they flagged down a bus and off he went to hospital on it. Found out later he was diabetic and the whole country was short of insulin.
