Not quite sure how you define 'normal' snowhope. Beyond two standard deviations? Beyond the 2007 record? Less November sea ice since the last Ice Age? Weather is weather and has variation but whatever it is it ain't normal.snow hope wrote: Ken, there is nothing wrong with the Arctic air flow. It is cold up there as normal.

I've heard about this data logging. It's threatening the orang-utans you know

To get a wider appreciation of the variability of arctic sea ice over the last three centuries (rather than just the last 30 years), have a read here, http://wattsupwiththat.com/2009/06/20/h ... rctic-ice/

Yikes, that's grim! Hope you have managed to get one.JohnB wrote:I've got no gas . Calor were supposed to deliver to my local petrol station yesterday, but the latest news is tomorrow or Friday. I needed to stock up on dog food yesterday, so couldn't cope with a gas cylinder on the bus as well (assuming there's any in town)!
Maybe worthwhile having one more cylinder in reserve? (if you're totally dependent on this)
Do you have a local pub where you can warm up?
I don't understand why this is happening. What's the point of having a gba level if it isn't invoked?RalphW wrote:Gas now being pumped at well above GBA levels. No GBA has been called.

We've just ordered some more firewood.
Also we are buying extras stocks of hay as we suspect that our huge pile in the barn will go down much more quickly than planned if we have a long cold winter. (We need to use our farmer contacts to get hay - they are now only selling it to people they know.)
Several car & leisure batteries now charged and sitting quietly under the sofa.
Just on the way out to buy a big gas cylinder ... although they were out of stock a couple of days ago. Deliveries not turning up.
I suppose we should stockpile some motor fuel, but I'm a bit nervous re fire and/or damp contamination.

It wasn't that bad. I only use it for cooking, and had to go in the house to do it. I use electric heaters! I mentioned it mainly because I thought it might be a sign of shortage, but I got my spare cylinder replaced in town yesterday. I've been assured the petrol station will have a delivery today, so then I'll have a spare.woodpecker wrote:Yikes, that's grim! Hope you have managed to get one.JohnB wrote:I've got no gas .
