Ah, no worries - it's a song they wrote about the closure of train lines to all sorts of places - the 'list' nature of the lyric lent itself to... adaptation.

It's a very weistful piece, really.

The Works is/was a discount bookshop.

And there's been very little I've wanted from shopping centres for ages... self-patterning sock wool, Winter Pimm's, um... yeah.

Now, There's a thought - Uses for Empty Malls...?
What's wrong with their normal use in such situations?

Our credit crunch problems are solved! Thanks Harvey Nic's for your vote of confidence in Nottingham.

That'll be the same Harvey Niks that's just put up signs for a 90% off sale in Birminghams Mail Box shopping centre. Watched it go from 20% (pre xmas) through 50% & 70% to 90% during January!

If I wait a bit longer they'll be paying me to take their stock away at this rate!

Anyone remember "The Shoe Event Horizon" from Hitch-hiker?

Seems it's been overtaken by events :D

It seems that dog food manufacturer Pedigree Chum is the latest casualty of the 'credit crunch'.

Apparently they've had to call in the retrievers.

News bulletins have been reporting that ASDA are expanding - more jobs.

BUT

For every new job in a supermarket more than one job is lost elsewhere in the food retail industry. We're not eating more - just buying more trashy food.

Or eating and drinking at home more. Pubs have been hit hard, 8% down over the last 3 months, I believe.

:( I need a drink!

There are millions who celebrate what you're saying. Give us our 'cheap' food!

Why, there are even people on this forum who would fellate ASDA's shareholders.

Seems the Barclay brothers have bought the Woolies brand name and plan to use it for an online store. I wonder whether it will be in a VAT avoiding tax haven on a certain Channel Island where they have a major interest?

Not a failure, yet, but Rose is sounding out a taxpayer bailout.
Now refusing to spend your cash wont only see them inflated away, they'll be given to "strategic" high street stores as well.
sniff sniff
Is that a Labour government resorting to economic facism, again, I smell, I think it is.
I wonder what I will be an unwilling shareholder in next week?

Is "economic facism" what politicians pull when they talk fiscal diarrhoea?
I'm hippest, no really.
