"right"

What can we do to change the minds of decision makers and people in general to actually do something about preparing for the forthcoming economic/energy crises (the ones after this one!)?

Nope. Fortunately have no TV, and have been too busy listening to Barack O saying 'Change' every minute on the web.

(now evident from his cabinet selection that there isnt going to be all that much. More like Clinton take 3)

President-elect Barack Obama and Robert Gates are negotiating terms under which the defence secretary would remain as Pentagon chief in his administration, the Financial Times has learned.

Mr Obama, through an intermediary, has approached Mr Gates, who has served as defence secretary under President George W. Bush since 2006, about accepting the position, which would place a respected Republican appointee in his cabinet.

Of course it's "right" that "lessons are (never) learned" so as to "inform" the "enquiry" while repeating dogmatically some mantra which has absolutely nothing to do with any question asked!!!

Give me strength!

I have to turn the sound off on the telly/radio so often now that I only need to turn it on once a week or so and still miss nothing.

Well It's better than doing the wrong thing. I always thought having an ethical foreign policy was quite smart. Pity they dropped that idea.

Dropped it? Hah! Apart from mouthing the words I don't think Noo Labur ever picked it up in the first place.

'ethical foreign policy' was that funny little red bearded Scotsman with an incomprehensible accent who looked like a leprechaun... bonked his secretary and left his wife. Forgotten his name! Must be Alzheimers.

Peter.
That's traditionally the left. Have a look at:
http://www.politicalcompass.org/extremeright
Has anyone here done the test?

My political compass:

Economic Left/Right: -8.88
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -9.59

The site sort of illustrates why I detest most politics.
Awesome link, I'm ;

Your political compass
Economic Left/Right: -5.00
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.00

I think Robin Cook has been the only cabinet minister I have actually spoken to - a very long time ago - and he rather impressed me so I was pleased when he bacame Foreign Secretary and saddened when he resigned. A man of sound ideas and integrity.

I sit on Friedman, apparently supporting the death penelty is authoritarian.
The compass is good as a guide, but it falls into the "these are what libertarians believe trap".
The point is not what I believe, its the extent to which I believe the state should enforce my views.

Seems it works both ways:
Gordon Brown says unofficial strikes against the use of foreign workers are "not the right thing to do" and "not defensible".

Today we get "not the right thing".
