Food

Post by GordyJ1984 »

Where are the food prep threads?

Practical ideas and suchlike about securing food if the worst happens.

From LATOC I read alot about rabbits and goats that interested me, possibly sheep too.

Vegtables such as carrots and spuds seem likely

Even looked at trees such apples and maybe even nuts...

Hey Gordy, check out the Preparations forum - lots in there about food and fruit trees etc. There is a lot of good info - but it has been discussed at various time over the years, so you will have to use the Search facility at the top of the page.

Had thought it may be the case of just being under different labels.

It is worrying how much Britain and Ireland import food wise

Depends how much space you've got. We're growing a (very small) bit each of: hazel, blueberries, apples, pears, cherries, currants, sorrel, various herbs, strawbs, raspberries. We're under no illusions this will get us through total collapse, but it'll help in the event of, say, rationed/monotonous central food supplies.

About the first thing is, put in a water barrel, then a compost (but you've already done that haven't you :D ? ).
