I think you'll find that RGR is paid to say what he says which is something you highlighted in your post titled Paid spam 'advertisers- DO exist!, albeit without referring to or pointing the finger at RGR. This is a common form of disruption, particularly on forums, which makes RGR a shill.

RGR will never answer our questions because he doesn't really know very much about the oil industry. He's just following a script designed to disrupt. He should be ignored.

No one has to reply to him.

Well sort of. We'll still see all the replies to his posts, including quotes from him, and that will totally confuse any topics he's got his teeth into :?

Argh yes, forgot about that bit, buggrit.

It's got to the point where my intense irritation with him is clouding my view of other, completely non-connected people on other non-PO-related sites just because they have similar usernames; there's someone calling themselves RCR who I've had to teach myself to read without knee-jerk dislike because it looks like RGR if I'm not careful and I automatically expect an annoying, condescending post...

I've now found out after some major effort who RGR is.

No, I won't reveal his name as he deserves his privacy ... but I will try to read some of his published papers over the next days to see if they persuade me more than his posts on the web.

You never know, I might be converted and realise that PO is just a will o' the wisp.

Well let us all know lol I want to make massive minimum effort lol, or at least point us in the direction of some papers :-)

I beg to differ. Given the amount of disruption he has deliberately caused round here, when at all times he had the choice to discontinue, I think we have the right to know who he is.

I agree, RGR deserves nothing of the kind. His constant disruption and condescending posts have much reduced my "enjoyment" and participation in this forum, where I have been a member for over three years. I now visit the forum less often mainly because I can't really stand his style of posting. :(

Just had to look back four pages to remind myself what this thread is supposed to be about. As soon as RGR joined in it turned into yet another discussion about RGR. If this was a face to face discussion, he would have been asked to leave, or almost everyone else would have walked out, long ago.

I think it's good to hear different points of view, but RGR is doing his arguments no good in the way he comes across. He's either here to deliberately cause disruption, or has some mental health, social skills or communication problems that need addressing. If he's here just to cause disruption, whether it's for his own enjoyment or as part of some plan to sabotage PowerSwitch, he's doing a bloody good job, and should be thrown out before genuine members get pissed off and leave. If it's a personal problem, I'm sure he'd be welcome back after dealing with it, if he's then able to put his views across in a way that doesn't dominate the discussion.

If he has published papers I think we should know about them. If they're published they can't be secret, and if they have any relevance to his posts on PowerSwitch we should know if we're dealing with a genuine person. Why hasn't he referred to then to prove his credentials?

RGR wouldn't happen to be Mr TR Klett of Central Energy Resources Team, US Geological Survey, Denver, Colorado?

He has co-authored a book in 2003 entitled Giant Oil and Gas Fields 1990-1999

Ha! I doubt it. If (as I'm quite sure!) you're intelligent enough to understand the meaning of the word 'finite', you can also see that PO is a logical inevitability.

I stop posting because of the way it went off track; and was surprised to see it at 4 pages.

In my original post I talked about the book the art of the long view and they way it leads to society break down. RGR made a terse comment about Motor city...

The book actually predicted what happened in places like Washinton DC. It had a population of 800k in the 50's and it just imploded, leading it to become the crime capital of America. In the 80's & 90's I think he'll find his black economy there with associated armed gangs. There were/are other examples.

The picture I posted was from a series of recent detroit pictures published in the UK. My prediction is the black economy for detroit itsn't going to be that far behind... people have to eat and guns are too easily available.

A few blocks from the disused Ford plant is Pasadena Street where two thirds of the homes built to house car workers are abandoned or burnt-out
RGR clearly has a motive for his actions, why not declare who he really is?

I don't feel the need to hide behind anonymity.

If PowerSwitch need donations to support the upgrade feature, post a thread and lets all contribute
