Running away to Wales.

What changes can we make to our lives to deal with the economic and energy crises ahead? Have you already started making preparations? Got tips to share?

Completed on my house purchase today and spent the day moving a whole load of stuff from storage in London down to Wales. Met one of the neighbours - really lovely. They already keep chickens and have a veg plot going, and one of them is an ex-carpenter and manages our neighbouring woodland.

Can't wait to get down there on a more permanent basis. It's only a small place, but after living on a narrowboat for two years it feels palatial.

Great news Tess. May all your dreams come true - sooner rather than later. :)

Great news about the neighbours too.

Will you have to buy a waterbed after 2 years afloat ?

Congrats to you and the BF Tess, it's a whole new life coming up for you. Make the most of it.
And when you are settled and sorted, and your old chums call round and tell you how lucky you are - tell them luck had absolutely nothing to do with it!

Wonderful news!

Will you be there for Christmas? Even if everything is still settling - Christmas dinner in a new home is always special.

:) Here's to you! (Need a raised wine glass smilie....)

When society breaks down, do all we Powerswitchers tramp off to set up a commune with you? :D (As long as you're not handy with a gun like that woman in Survivors)

hey, one of the other two cabins adjacent to my new land is selling up now.

http://www.thesmallholdingcentre.co.uk/ ... lands.html

Anyone fancy joining Dave & I in ferryside?

(they're selling the place because they broke up, not because we moved in, in case you're wondering...)

It's 2/3 the price of ours. Nicer house, only a big garden rather than the 1/2 acre we have. But you'd have some very nice neighbours and no doubt some shared veggie plots/chickens...
