Did you have a nice rest?

Post by PowerSwitchJames »

Well, that was fun wasn't it?

The site, it is back...and my webhosts have NO idea what they're doing. They said they could fix it, I left it to them for a few days, and then they said they couldn't. So who fixed it? Me.

The thing is, it was only the news portal that was affected initially, then I reported the problem, and then someone, and I think it was Lycos, DELETED the files for the forum - but fortunately not the database.

Anyway, everything is back to normal now.

But so much spare time was made available :)

Well done James and thanks for bringing the site back.

Would it be a practical option to set up an automatic backup of the site, say every 6 hours or so. Then, when a problem comes up, you would simply need to go back not more than 6 hours to remove whatever error or hack caused the problem.
What a shame, seemed quite promising, this human species.

Yes, I missed the site. My husband got very restless, kept checking if the hompage was back. He is now happy again. And so am I.

Glad it's back, well done James and thanks to John Hemming's blog which helped me keep going along with the main PO site.

Nice rest? It was horrible! Felt a bit sad when I suspected that you would give up. This site carry large and significant qualities not found anywhere else.

No, I'm not addicted. Not at all. Could quit anytime if I wanted to.

Phew! Sanity returns. I've missed you all a tonload. Thank you, James & crew, for persevering and bringing us back in touch with each other.

A pox on the fellow that did this!
