Shop keepers and businesses are trying to generate cash flow to pay off their creditors. I've seen it opined by a number of commentators that the gold market is, and has been for a long time, fraudulent. Many gold certificates are written on gold that does not exist. This situation is now being exposed by a high demand for gold.
