Nah, Carter is much more compassionate, however spineless he may have been as president. I was very impressed by his work in trying to help eradicate Guinea worm. As an atheist I think his beliefs are as daft and delusional as hers. However he has cultivated his caring and compassionate side and I admire him for that. Palin will be immensely more destructive, especially in regards to her views on the environment and AGW. Somehow I get the feeling you agree with her on that. Thanks for your reply RGR. Although it's still unclear whether you think climate change is man made or not. Guessing you don't care either way?
Since agriculture itself only became possible once we had a fairly stable climate any change is a matter of concern, especiallly with the rate water tables are dropping worldwide - don't you think?
Interestingly enough, a childhood passion with geology was one of the main reasons I began to question the beliefs instilled in me by my fundamentalist Christian family. Later reading Dawkin's on evolution gave me an even better grasp of the sheer vast age of the world. Of course it made a mockery of believing in the flood, a young Earth etc. I even intended to take a geology degree but unfortunately personal circumstances prevented it. Who knows, I may even have ended up in the oil industry.
Anybody of moderate intelligence knows the changes wrought over geologic time are vast, and it obviously hasn't escaped climate change scientists attention either. Just go over to Realclimate to confirm that. You could even try to show them the error of their ways - doubt you'd last long though.
