US: Sarah Palin and Big Oil

I happen to dislike the sycophantic, stage managed and insincere roadshow that is the American political convention.
I don't dislike American citizens (well most of them anyway), in fact, having spent a lot of time in the US over the years, I have made many true friends.
I find that most of them are also repulsed by the current administration's policies and judging by the tone of their recent emails, are equally sickened by the prospect of having Mrs. P stand for VP.
I think Palin's all right, she's guttsy and better than our useless, wet, zero personality politicians. Whether I agree with her parties policies is another matter. All they want to do is maintain the status quo.
America is collapsing economically and socially (but statistically not as fast as our great country!) so who ever gets in ain't gonna be popular for long.

Representative Roscoe Bartlett is a Republican and you can't get more "Peak Oil" than Roscoe.RGR wrote:He is. My confusion is with the stereotypical "I wanna puke because a Republican said it!"

Well you can't discriminate against her because of her beliefs can you?biffvernon wrote:So you're a creationist, fundamentalist, anti womens' right to choose, anti gay, pro guns, pro death penalty and you vote for building a bridge and then gain the plaudits for stopping building a bridge. Have you ever considered that your mum might just be racist? Or is there some particular thing he's actually said-or-done that she doesn't like?RGR wrote:Well, that would definitely explain it.Aurora wrote:My hatred of American party politics has nothing to do with the sky falling in.RGR wrote:

Interestingly, my mother is quite enthused with Palin. She was a diehard Hillary fan, tried and true, a Democrat voting mom for the past 30 years. Once it became apparent that she was getting Obama...Aurora wrote: I find that most of them are also repulsed by the current administration's policies and judging by the tone of their recent emails, are equally sickened by the prospect of having Mrs. P stand for VP.
Racist or not, tell your Mum not to bother voting for Obama.RGR wrote:The possibility of her being a racist has occurred to both of us. She can't quite put her finger on why she would head to McCain instead of Obama, but during the primaries it was already obvious to me that she wasn't going to be part of a "united" Democratic party if she couldn't vote for Hillary.
Unfortunately, he won't be around long enough to make a difference.
I predict that some God-fearin', Bud-swillin', McD chompin', creationist, gay-hatin', gun totin', Republican racist red neck will eliminate Obama within weeks of him being elected.
