Remember it is some 2 years old now.
And anyway it's Know Thy Punters...the film wasn't really made for the likes of us, more for the less-well-informed-about-PO.
Well what really bugged me was the opening when it was describing Oil as the "Devils Blood!" As if Oil is a bad/evil thing. Oil is actually great without it I certainly wouldn't have seen or done the things I have so I'm not dissing Oil. Look at the lives it's saved by allowing medicines to be made and transported to all regions. The economy has bennefited so much. Religious and Ratial intigration wouldn't have happened without it and Women would still be near 2nd class citizens. So no all in all Oil is an amazing thing.

Another thing is, is that Oil is a clean fossil fuel so maybe if it wasn't for Oil then Global Warming may have been worse that it is as I'm sure we'd have used more Coal and Culled more trees.

I agree this is a bit off-putting at the beginning of the film, though you have to presume that they don't mean that oil itself is evil, but that the way humans have fought over it and gotten addicted to it IS.

Hmm... dunno about this. If it were not for the easy lives we have led due to the energy and products we take directly or indirectly from oil, then maybe the world's population wouldn't have grown so much ... and we'd have polluted much less on the whole. And of course, without oil there'd be no personal automobile. I can't imagine traffic jams of commuters all in their little individual steam engines running on coal (and no doubt hooting their whistles at each other in frustration!).

Indeed I can imagine a lower population, electrified and cleaner world had oil never existed.

Yeah true, I suppose they could've. It's somthing that can easily be argued both ways. I still would've liked them talk about all the fun, nice bennefits Oil as given, dragging the viewer into a false sense of security then "BANG" hit them and hit them hard with the facts "THAT OIL CAN'T LAST FOREVR and FOREVER IS CLOSER THAN ORIGINALLY BELIEVED" this way I recon they could've got a greater impact.

I don't know but the industrial revolution started before Oil became mass produced and so I'm sure Coal would've been over exploited eventually and the population would've still grown. More trees would've been culled. With Coal being a very heavy contributor to Global Warming I do believe things may have been worse.

Great film but obviously dumbed down to apeal to the masses, which is a good thing. It gets the message across

Cheers
