National Meet Up - August 2nd/3rd

Looking forward to meeting everyone tomorrow. The bf and I will be arriving a la motorbike maybe mid-afternoon. Staying in town overnight. I'll be bringing the tin whistle and attempting to join in with any jigs or reels I happen to hear.

I'll get my thanks in first then - it was great to meet some Powerswitchers again, and also meet some well known names for the first time. I was only able to make it for the Saturday in the end, but the weather turned out fine. Enjoyed the walk around Greenham Common. Seeing the hardened shelters reminded me of Mayan Temples. They'll be a lasting legacy of the Cold War and American Empire...

Especially my thanks to Chris Vernon for sight of the OU books - I'll sign up for this, at least confident I'll enjoy, if not actually pass the course - and of course, to Ken and his family for coping with the Peak Visitors.

It started of damp, positively raining, but after lunch the sun was shining.

A huge thanks to Ken and family hosting the event and providing such excellent food. It was really great to see everything you've been up to.

I had to dash off on the Sunday morning and didn't get to say goodbye to as many people as I would have liked to.

We had a great time. Thanks to Ken, Carol & their family for allowing us in to see their fantastic place and making us all feel welcome.

It was great to put faces to names and meet new people. We had a really good weekend. I think we managed to get all the grass hoppers out of the tents before we packed them away.

Excellent weekend. Great to meet all the Powerswitchers.

Sorry I didn't get to say goodbye to Jackie and Ali - had to rush for a train. Thanks to Ken and Carol and Alice for having us all. Amazing what Ken has done on the farm - has inspired me to move forward and take more steps towards sustainability.

Enjoyed Mobsey's foraging - will be buying those little books you recommended.

Maybe we will be able to do it again next year?!
