Andy Hunt wrote:Things have now been further complicated for me as on the weekend of the Powerswitch event I have been asked to attend the inaugural meeting of a local peak oil group which a guy in the same borough is trying to set up.

He has put 400 leaflets around the place advertising his event and this first event could be make or break. I am thinking that I really should support him . . . after all relocalisation is what it's all about innit.

Looks like I may not be coming after all guys. Gutted. :(
Let us know how it goes Andy.

Got five members of a local folk band, Three Mile Cross, coming with instruments but minus lead singer, so we'll all have to join in.

It's a shame about Andy, but my daughter is relieved. She's the EHO on duty that weekend, as well as doing our cooking, so would have to come out to check complaints about noise!

Blimey, we found it hard enough to arrange a meet up in a pub last time!

We're travelling down after my partner finishes work tomorrow. As we'll be arriving quite late we've decided to stay tomorrow night in a Youth Hostel so we don't have to try to put tents up in the dark with 2 grumpy kids, after a long journey. Think we'll be staying at The Ridgeway YH near Wantage, then coming over to the meetup & setting up camp on Saturday morning. :D

Really looking forward to the cob oven thing. Weather's looking better now too. Met office show a chance of a heavy shower around 1pm on Saturday. Sunday looks lovely.

I'm sure I will get to meet you all at some stage - maybe next year, when I've got the teething troubles with my sound system ironed out or something and I have a bit more time to plan.

You're not going to the Hawkfest this weekend are you Jim?! I'll be there!! Surely an old hippy like you isn't going to miss it?!?
How was it Andy? Can you remember?

Ah, I was going to come but I thought it was in the middle of August for some reason. If it's tomorrow then I don't think I'll be able to make it I'm afraid :(

People are naturally far more hostile on forums than in real life, far more. That said, this forum is one of the least hostile I've ever come across - that translates into real life meets.
I echo that. I've come across almost incomprehensible rage and bile on other forums. This place is an island in a sea of shite.
Wow! i didn't realise this. To be honest I go on a few more forums and the people on them are really quite friendly. The only other forum were I find hostilty (which I've now given up with) was one called Sheffield Forum and that believe me is lots more hostile than this one.
