If anyone has anything they want to display, I'll have my display panels with me. I've got an A4 laminator and some velcro too.

Things have now been further complicated for me as on the weekend of the Powerswitch event I have been asked to attend the inaugural meeting of a local peak oil group which a guy in the same borough is trying to set up.

He has put 400 leaflets around the place advertising his event and this first event could be make or break. I am thinking that I really should support him . . . after all relocalisation is what it's all about innit.

Looks like I may not be coming after all guys. Gutted. :(

I know . . . I'm sure it will be much better without me!!!

I'm sure I will get to meet you all at some stage - maybe next year, when I've got the teething troubles with my sound system ironed out or something and I have a bit more time to plan.

You're not going to the Hawkfest this weekend are you Jim?! I'll be there!! Surely an old hippy like you isn't going to miss it?!?

Andy I can't believe you would consider not going!!! What are we going to do about sounds? It's only 50 miles south of Brum, apparently.

You can take photos & stories from our event to the next Bury Peak Oil meeting - it'll really spur them on.

We will have part of a folk band coming so we will not be entirely without music. Gavin from CAT, earlier CAT MSc people will know him well, will be coming as well so I'm having the piano tuned tomorrow. He seems to know every tune ever sung. There will be plenty of music although possibly not as loud as Andy's. I'll have to get a pair of speakers set up outside for my stereo as well.

Hope the Bury group goes well, Andy.

We've got about 60 people so far at various times over the weekend..

It think it would be useful if we all wore name badges - with our forum user name and real name. Could we get some concensus on this?

I think it also makes it easier to introduce yourself to anybody at anytime. :)

I was at a get together of another forum on Saturday. We were given sticky labels with our forum names written on as we arrived. It does make things easier. Sometimes you realise the person you're talking to, and don't know, knows all about you as they have been avidly reading your contributions to the forum, and you don't have to introduce yourself.

You may also discover you have a secret fan club :D. I seem to have one on a motorhoming forum. I'm not unique, but only a tiny proportion of members are fulltimers, and some of the majority who aren't like to follow our progress.

I'm not going to tempt fate by saying anything about the weather except that we are preparing for the worst.

We've got a 6m x 3m tent and our new polytunnel is up which has a 5m x 4m space in it. The cooking area has a big tarp over it so three workshops can go on at the same time under cover if necessary.

Workshops planned at the moment are

Bread making in a cob oven (under cover)
Cob oven building (under cover)
Cob walling (outside)
Light earth insulation (part in, part out)
House tour (inside)
Farm walk with an ecologist (out)
Foraging (out)
Garden tour (out)
Scythe (out)
Indian head massage and other massage techniques (inside). the fully trained therapist will give massages, for a fee, after the workshop.

The cob and earth workshops can get very messy so bring suitable clothes for those.

We're looking forward to meeting you all.
