Hi
Are there any folks in Bristol - whether involved in Transition or not - who are interested in getting together?
Actually I'm trying to get my head out of Transition right now and it would be be good to hook up with people with a less idealistic view of things.

Didn't go to the Transition conference. Partly after the hippy positivity of Naresh & Sophy's Transition training last year, party due to Ben Brangwyn's snide comments about ASPO in the registration emails and partly because I don't think I could have contained myself from telling them things they don't want to hear.
...And don't get me started on the procrastination & ego politics within Transition Bristol.
In Transition Easton we've been operating pretty much independently. Decisions are made much more easily that way. Still the same old faces though.
I think time for ideological debate is over. Events are unfolding fast. Other means need to be explored to spur into action the great mass of people beyond the green fringe. Like having a media/political engagement strategy or appealing to people's pockets as the economic crisis unfolds.
Remember Transition is only one faction within the Peak Everything movement. The idea of starting a new organisation from scratch though is a daunting one.

Im from weston super mare so only 26 miles from bristol, and yup the fluffyness puts me off but I find it hard to tell them that your more like to get mad max than a peaceful transition .
I may be wrong but Ive come across violent reactions from people who are just told that they may have to change the way they live and about peak oil, if it actually happens I see lots of violence and trouble

Hello Bristol and WsM people,
How about that pint before the sky comes crashing down around us. Personally speaking, I am finding it a bit hard remaining operational when surrounded by the idiotic general response to what is going on at the mo, and would really appreciate some sane company for an evening.
Anyone got any favorite watering holes as a suggestion?
