I'm right-handed but I always wipe my bum with my left hand. I'm not a Muslim. I didn't know about that tradition when growing up. It just seemed to happen naturally. Is this inherent in the normal wiring of a right-handed brain? What are other people's experiences? Do left-handers wipe their bums with their right hand?

I think toilet paper is the norm, generally speaking.

Toilet humour aside, I think this poll is invalidated by the fact that proud left handed people are more likely than right handers to answer a poll titled "Are you left handed or right handed?"

I agree. I'm a proud lefty so the title particularly caught my attention.

I'm left handed, so's my wife and one of my lads. My wife was forced to write right handed at school and still does, this has caused problems and she is mildly dyslexic.

Although Erik is probably correct about the invalidity of the poll, I thought I would summarise what I got from this discussion as I started the thread. It appears to me that an above average proportion of powerswitchers are left handed, if you include the "bit of both" group then 34% are not right handed. The normal rate is 7-10% What this tells me is that the theory of left handers being able to handle new information and amend their beliefs accordingly is probably accurate. That to me does not mean that the right handers amongst us are less able to amend their beliefs as I think by the very nature that you are a powerswitch poster you are probably able to amend your beliefs very well in the light of new information.

Me personally I am a bit of both but probably predom lefty. So has it been worthwhile running the poll, probably not, Erik spoilt the party  but I've enjoyed reading all of your comments.

I'm left handed and I always find myself adjusting my ideas.

...and after all that us lefties are still here! So, I wonder, do we have some kind of sneaky-b****rd advantage or what?

Interestingly the Elizabethans, who first hauled England out of poverty and obscurity and actually made something of the place, were far more tolerant of lefties than the Victorians, who I suppose also did, but then again they started from a huge advantage energy-wise.
