This sounds good.

My view is strongly that it should be opened out to other local groups, cross fertilisation and all that.

cheers

Last week I had the pleasure of spending a few days on Kenneals farm with him and his lovely family.

Their cob built house is a sight to be seen and is an amazing construction built from the clay on their land. I spent my time helping to build a huge new Pollytunnel and prep the new composting loos and the shower block.

Ken and is family (including two very friendly dogs, Cash and Nathan) are taking a lot of time and effort to prepare for the weekend and I know Ken believes the more the merrier. I hope you will all make an effort to get there as some of the workshops should be very interesting.

Ken and I are both looking forward to seeing Andy Hunts Solar PV car sound system so lets all make this a weekend to remember.

Thought I'd better warn everyone that they get on well with my little monster, so there could be three of them charging about excitedly .

I'm sure pics from Kyrgyzstan will be much more interesting (and probably less embarrassing).

With SunnyJim and I wielding scythes in competition, our four legged friends will have to be careful where they charge or they'll be doing it on shorter legs.

I dunno Cat, flying off for a bit of glacier skiing at this critical time. This job thing is just an excuse for one last mega holiday before it gets too expensive.

I think a bit of a sunday scythe competition would be great fun.....

Scythe competitions are normally run by scything a 5m x 5m square against the clock. If you have the grass for it ken, I'm quite happy to lend my scythe to others for the competition. I can do a workshop on scything on Saturday if you like, or could just show people less formally as and when... not that I am an expert you understand!!!!! I have read the scythe book though, so I know how it should be done in theory....

How many people are coming so far Ken?

Make sure you PM Kenneal then. :)

SunnyJim, I'm up for a lesson in scything. I tried it last year on our allotment and couldn't get the hang of it at all.

Sounds good to me. I've just spent a day cutting weeds and long grass with garden shears because the brush cutter I was supposed to use wouldn't work, so learning to use a scythe would be good. I've had experience of watching Scythe Festivals, but not participating. Do we get to wear a black cloak and skeleton mask .

As for shortening dogs legs, I'd have to lift Charlie into the van if his legs were shorter .

I've PMd Kinneal to let him/her know I would like to go. However, I am unsure of the date it would be held. When this has been worked out, I would appreciate if someone could email me on stevecook172001@yahoo.co.uk and let me know

cheers

I've got over 50 coming so far.

I could do with a scythe workshop as I've only ever picked the thing up and used it. We've got masses of grass that needs topping so a competition could be on the cards.

I'll try and run off a timetable for workshops so that people can do a bit of everything if they want.

I'm trying to get a few interesting stands together as well.

If anyone could come a day or so early, I would appreciate a hand setting things up.
