UNION bosses were last night planning fresh strike action at the Grangemouth refinery after negotiations stalled again.

A second crippling stoppage could now take place in as little as seven days - shutting the refinery for a month.

That should keep most people here happy - either for political or Mad Max reasons.

Oh, I get that error message sometimes. What does it mean? I just clicky the little red crossy and it goes away.

I'd get someone to have a look at that. Running around with a badly implemented worry stack can lead to all sorts of problems.
I would imagine it leaves you open to a few exploits and I've already noted a fair number of people flogging dodgy mental software and trying to make political capital out of peak oil.

Z80A? Z80A?

Why, when I were lad, we would have KILLED for a Z80A!

Nay, we had to make do with a 6800 or even worse a 6502.

Some of my poorer mates only had 4004s ... it were a tough old world back then ...

6800 was not so bad, I wrote flight control software for a jet airliner to run on a 68000, just one (microprocessor) generation later...

...and when my dad were a lad, he had to evict the TOADS from the computer room to stop them getting mercury poisoning, and interrupting the sonic memory lines....

You poor soul . . . not even a single 16-bit register on a 6502.

Programming must have been like breaking rocks.

Looks like the plane is still flying, I'd recognise those smoke trails anywhere. If it wasn't a military registration the it would have been grounded 20 years ago :)

When I was on it, the plane was painted orange and yellow...

This looks like the same programme, 15 years later and still experimental.
Even then by the time we wrote the software, the microprocessor had evolved 3 generations...

The PC was 16 bit ...

The SP was 16-bit too ... but only the bottom byte was user accessible.

Overall a piece of junk ... but sold by the million ...
