Ok then, what about the recent eathquake and the shady events surrounding that? Vortex still won't talk about it!

On radio 4 they are reporting that the owners are saying the refinery stays closed until the dispute is settled.

Here's another classic statement from a leading economist:
Yorkshire Post - 26/04/08

Howard Archer, Global Insight's chief UK economist, said: "While we continue to believe that the UK will avoid recession, we suspect that it will see an extended period of markedly below-trend growth."

'Markedly below-trend growth'. :)

I'm seeing some very long lines at the fuel stations this morning. Looks like everybody has ran out of go juice today. Coincidence?

I'm holding off my panic buying, as I want to join an existing queue to help it look longer!

I've only got room for about 5 litres, but hey, why not join in the fun!

The strike is on national news radio here in Sweden now.

I think that these forums are absolutely great for "early warning" stuff. Hurricanes in the US, rice shortages, rolling blackouts in SA, and now refinery constrictions in the UK - the forums are always way ahead of the mainstream media.

False warnings are also a bit common, so the trick is to sort and judge, but in general the forums are filling an information niche.

Well I lost my nerve and did my top-up. Local station is out of unleaded at a couple of pumps now - and apart from Cornwall we're as far as you can get from Grangemouth without getting wet!
