National Meet Up - August 2nd/3rd

I've asked people to PM me for address details because we don't want any ol' person turning up and it will also give me an idea of numbers. It's a private party not a festival so won't need a license or planning permission.

Will people want to cook their own food or be catered for? My wife and daughter can, and do, cater for large numbers (100 +) if required and I can get some barrels of beer in. We'd sell food at cost and donations for liquid refreshments would be required (obviously can't sell without a license).

I'll have to hire in Loos unless I can have some help beforehand to build composting loos. I'll probably knock up some jet fires for the cooking as I've got some earth building workshops going on this summer as well.

I just need to know how you want things organised, so let's hear you.

I can do a Cob Building workshop and Mobbsey has volunteered to do a Wild food forage. Any other volunteers? We can do some bread making using our cob oven.

People can turn up on Friday night if they want. That way we can do more workshops on Saturday.

Edit: happy to eat and drink whatever will be provided, and happy to pay for the privilege. Also happy to talk about my preparations, although I think most people who will be there are already familiar with them!

I was thinking you know, I am bringing this little sound system and it got me thinking.

I could bring a laptop with a mobile 'phone modem internet connection, so that we would have a little 'comms' centre. I suppose we could even do it as an exercise in setting up a little 'off grid community' in the middle of Kenneal's field.

We could even get some extra LED lighting from somewhere, so that we could light up our little patch for safety in the evening sessions, stop people tripping over things etc.

But I haven't got enough batteries, solar etc to do all that - if anyone could contribute some batteries/solar/wind/whatever, then we could have our own little comms centre and everything.

Or is this just a bit too geeky?

It would keep us off the streets wouldn't it Andy. Another possibility for a workshop.

I've got a 600W 12V wind turbine that hasn't been erected yet. All I would need in a scaffold pole and some bracing wire. Got a 5W PV as well.

Blue Peter has offered a car share so perhaps we can arrange lift shares through here as well.

I'll have to set the alarm on my van, and leave my guard dog on duty, whenever I leave it! Got a laptop with mobile internet (or else I wouldn't be here!), LED lighting, and should have PV installed as well by then

I'm planning to be in Staffordshire the previous weekend, so will probably be arriving from a Cotswoldy sort of direction. I'll have 2 seats and be able to carry 2 bikes, but won't be going back that way. You'll need to be dog lovers though

I don't remember writing that. If I come alone, there won't be a car; if the whole family comes, it would be a bit of a squeeze to get anyone else in.

Sorry Peter, Mean Mr Mustard has offered lifts for 3/4 people, not blue Peter.

If lift shares can be arranged through this forum it will save some pressure on my, obviously already, overworked brain.
