Does anyone else have their hubby shouting random numbers at them?!
Mine occasionally calls down the stairs, (in an overly excited tone)
112.34
113.78
etc!
Very strange behaviour....

I normally announce the daily figure to my wife over a glass of wine at about 10pm. I like to keep her up to date (although she'd rather not know most of the time.).

I wonder how long this particular run will last? Will we get to $120 or fall back first?

I could imagine all hell breaking loose if we have an interesting hurricane season this year (after last year's benign activity)

Is that the origin of the well-known Yorkshire exclamation:
"Well, I'll go to the foot of our stairs!"?

I've not heard that one RC. Mind you my dad is from London so I heard more cockney than tyke growing up. "I'll go to the foot of our apples and pears!" is even more confusing.

I do get a bit excitable over it sometimes - oil usually only hits new records on days when I'm travelling and offlive, so it makes a change to watch it happen live!

Doesn't look like it, but thanks for making me Google it... I found this site: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=jeffed and now fully expect to be able to understand my daughter for, like, ever man.

Way off topic but you mean the Yardbirds and then the Jeff Beck Group with Ron Wood, Rod Stewart and Ansley Dunbar before they became the Faces. And lead guitar (up there with Clapton and Hendrix) not bass.
And just to bring us back on topic in 1967 oil averaged $3.12 per barrel which inflation adjusted to 2007 was equivalent to $19.65. And the Yardbirds latest album cost 32 shillings and sixpence (?1.62 or about $4.50) and was available in a choice of mono or stereo versions...
Today oil is $113 and a full price CD is around $18 - so at least music has got cheaper in oil terms :)

The enigmatically worded No. "Hi Ho Silver Lining" (which I've played countless times in countless bands) was his most notable hit with the Jeff Beck Band; he was also in the Yardbirds for a while.

Good rhyming slang, though.
