I know that in a zombie horde situation I won't be selling any of my tinned food for no steeenkin gold sovereigns.
Got a basement full, I've run out of room to store it...
On the other hand, if the Zombie hordes attack a pocket full of gold coins is going to be a lot easier to cut and run with, rather than a wheelbarrow of tinned pilchards.
Well I'm thinking two things:
1. Nowhere else to run to. The whole world has peaked. So maybe gold will be useless till things settle down.
2. A wheelbarrow full of tinned pilchards might make good weapons against zombies. I have a good pitching arm.

I'm really not convinced by the argument that because you can't eat it gold will somehow lose all value in the future...
People like gold, it's nice and shiny, always have always will. Anyway I guess we will find out in time, doing OK at the moment however.
Also it doesn't have to be exclusive, you are allowed to prepare in other ways as well.
Get rid of debt
Store food
Good neighbors
Grow food
Some gold
Land you own outright.
I'm not really interested in the Zombie Hordes scenarios anymore, there is next to nothing in the way of preparation for total chaos.

Good neighbors
Are we allowed to ethnically cleanse the bad neighbours?
It's a 'target rich environment' !

Are you saying that bad neighbours are a different race entirely, Vortex?

Of course not.
Some of my best friends are neighbours. Why, I might even let my children marry a neighbour.
You just can't choose to have good neighbours, so it can't really be part of any 'action plan'.

Neighbours - everybody needs good neighbours.
Just a little understanding, and you can find the perfect blend.

Getting very serious: if the SHTF then some neighbours will have to hit the road. Sad but true. (Those neighbours of course could be ... US!)
