I think that their monopoly & huge staff is being to give them airs & graces.I'm fed up with google for a variety of reasons.
The founders are now too far away from the coal face ... so crap will start creeping in ....
Signs of decay include:
- The way they recently changed their main page layout for the worse.
- The petty rules they force onto Adwords advertisers.
Just minor points ... but nevertheless signs that the 2nd level managers i.e. non-startup types ... are now in control. Bright jobsworths.
In say 10 years, Google won't still be number 1 ... or at the very least they will have REAL competition.

Explain why the FTSE is up 150 points when UBS is on the verge of unravelling?
I'm not an equity analyst but the news stories are saying the rally was due to UBS and Lehman's ability to raise new capital without too much difficulty, indicating that the market feels 'the worse is behind us'.
Tess I think you and I know that this is quite clearly rubbish.I'm not an equity analyst but the news stories are saying the rally was due to UBS and Lehman's ability to raise new capital without too much difficulty, indicating that the market feels 'the worse is behind us'.
I am quite positive about the future of humanity. I know it has too get a whole lot worse before it gets better.

Agreed Vortex. The advertising jargon on it makes me very angry. I know there are more powerful, less commercial search engines out there but can you recommend one?

The US taxpayer is now effectively backstopping losses incurred by the big Wall Street investment banks. The FED can now offset losses incurred by any bad paper it is forced to absorb (via the various recently introduced mechanisms) against the 'profit' it returns to the Treasury.danza wrote:Tess,

This could be considered a nationalisation of the Wall Street banks via the back door. Bound to be contentious once people in the USA figure out what is going on. Fat cats get the bailout, Joe public gets the bill.
