Wood burner WITHOUT expensive flue possible?

My father had his chimney concreted. i.e. had a big sausage shaped balloon inflated down his chimney (sounding quite rude this...) and back filled with concrete. This left a 6" diameter flue right up the chimney. Only needed a small section of single wall flue to join woodburner to chimney. Was cheap too.
We however had expensive double lined flue, put in with our Rayburn as it has to go through a wood floor and up through the airing cupboard. It does work nicely though. Great draw. Rayburn can be made to go off the temp scale fairly easily.
Our other wood burner we put single skin liner up for a modest price. This is not insulated and works well too. Doing it again, I'd probably look for some cheap single lined flue and do it myself.
MisterE has the answer to your probs Vortex! By far the best plan. Long life too. These expensive insulated twin wall thingys don't even last for ever!
