Hi all
I was advised that I should try this forum for reaching a woodland owner in South Devon who might want some help from time to time on a "when-possible" basis.
I'm not yet in the financial situation that would allow me to purchase a woodland of my own. Yet I love to be in the woods and to work with wood. I've enquired on the woodlands.co.uk website, but they are not the right people to ask. I would like to offer my time to help somone with a woodland. I'm very capable of felling small trees (max. dia. 6-8in) and cutting them into logs with my bow saw, but I seem to have hit a wall when it comes to finding someone to offer my services to. I'm not looking for payment or wood in return, just time to spend outdoors doing some hard work.
If you would like some help, or know someone who could do with another pair of hands when working in the woods, please let them know I'd like to help. Also, if you know of a website or organisation aimed at bringing woodland owners and helpers together, please let me know.
Thanks
Bernie

I wish we had offers like that from people round here !
We've got loads of stuff to do in the woods, hunting mushrooms, cutting fallen trees for firewood, taking the goats out for walkies...

Good point. BTCV is here for the SW: http://www2.btcv.org.uk/display/btcv_southwest
There is now also a Small Woodland Owners website you could join in with and advertise yourself on. We are still in the SE, but hope to spread west soon!

there are lots of owners who could do with some help!
