"Is this the real life, is this just fantasy
Caught in a landslide, no escape from reality
Open your eyes, look up to the skies and see
I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy
Because I'm easy come, easy go, little high, little low
Anyway the wind blows, doesn't really matter to me, to me" [Queen]
It's becoming all too real

Now it?s a peaceful oasis
You got it, you got it
This was a pizza hut
Now it?s all covered with daisies
You got it, you got it
I miss the honky tonks,
Dairy queens, and 7-elevens
You got it, you got it
And as things fell apart
Nobody paid much attention
You got it, you got it"

Re: New all time WTI high
Hah! I decided to have a look at page 1 of this thread. Guess what - it was exactly 6 months ago (Sept 12). And here's the first post:
That's a rise of approx 40% on six months agoTess wrote:New all-time intra-day high for WTI is $78.93, and we're still pushing higher.

What goes up must indeed come down, but the supply/demand balancing act has now been distorted by the perversity of investors fear. The dash for commodities due to the innate sense of mistrust of complex investements has distorted the market. I don't think the price will move according to fundamentals until the brewing commodities 'bubble' bursts. This could take some time!Totally_Baffled wrote:My god look at gasoline!skeptik wrote:U.S. Petroleum Balance Sheet, Week Ending 7th March 2008
What goes up, must come down - especially when faced with inventory gains.
high prices hitting US consumption? ... or maybe recession...

And if you think oils got it bad, check out wheat.....

Wheat has risen 187% in the last year, compared with a measly 88% rise in crude prices!!!!!
Wheat has gone up 15% in the last week compared with oils modest 4%.

I've just seen $111.00 at http://www.nymex.com/lsco_fut_cso.aspx.
Hmm... $111's a nice number, though $111.11 would have been nicer, and I'm quite looking forward to $123.45 (but we'll have to wait at least a couple of weeks before we see that one!!)
